The Akron Chapter of the SCORE Association is a non-profit organization of retired and active executives and business owners that provides free counseling, mentoring and workshops to entrepreneurs and existing businesses in the four-county area of Portage, Summit, Medina and Wayne.

A workshop that will help you find out what your customers want and how to give it to them. It covers a wide range of marketing topics including pricing, research, communication and customer service. You will have an opportunity to learn about your competition, how to describe your service or product, pricing strategy, target markets and channels, creating a marketing message, marketing communications methods and tools, public relations, social media and customer service.

New Workshops

 

SCORE To Offer Start-Up Business Workshops Beginning May 16

AKRON, Ohio – For the second consecutive year, Akron SCORE will offer its popular Simple Steps for Starting Your Business workshops beginning Thursday, May 16, continuing weekly through June 20.      This free series consists of six three-hour sessions that help evaluate an existing business or a new business idea. 

     All of the workshops will be held at The Taylor Institute at The University of Akron from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.  Applicants must commit to attending all six workshops.  Enrollment is limited to 25 participants

     Workshop topics and dates include:  Start-Up Basics, a no-nonsense look at the requirements of starting a business, May 16; Business Concept, key concepts involved with creating a business plan, May 23; Marketing Plan, how to market your product or service, May 30; Financial Projections, understanding business financials and forecasting for your business, June 6 and June 13; and Funding Sources, information on how to finance your small business, June 20 .  All of the workshops will be led by experienced SCORE counselors.

     The interconnected series of workshops offers an interactive learning environment consisting of case studies and work assignments based on a participant’s business idea.  Attendees completing the series will receive a certificate of completion signifying that they have successfully completed the course.
